Vitabar (lightly translates as The Lighthouse Bar) is located on the corner og Bergthorugata and Vitastigur.

The bartender tells me that is was founded in the 1960´s but closed in the early eighties for a franchise but re-opened in 1992 and has been the same way ever since. The interior is very retro, but not intentionally. It has all the feeling you imagine from an 80´s diner and the service is very good and personal.

I ordered the legendary Gleym-mér-ei burger (Forget me not burger) it is loaded with blue cheese and royal goodness, be sure to ask for the cocktail sauce to dip your French fries in. This burger is probably the best hangover cure out there and it´s fairly priced as well.

Just bare in mind, you´re going to a local burger joint and not something that is meant to be cool or fancy…it just is.
